BNP Paribas Personal Finance, the leading provider of consumer finance based in Solihull and Belfast, has teamed up with South Eastern Regional College (SERC) to support colleagues towards gaining a Leadership and Team Skills qualification, an ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) endorsed course.

The initiative will give supplementary training, skills and knowledge to BNP Paribas Personal Finance’s team members, helping prepare individuals to thrive in the workplace by upskilling them with nationally recognised leadership and management qualifications.

A ceremony took place at BNP Paribas Personal Finance’s Belfast office to celebrate the achievement of Level 2 qualifications by over 100 staff. The certificates were presented by BNP Paribas Personal Finance Director of Operations Jason Wright and Director of Human Resources Lynda Brennan.

BNP Paribas Personal Finance Learning and Development Manager Cherith Magill said: “Recognising the importance of exceptional customer service, and building on existing skills, the training was delivered to enhance skills and ensure we remain competitive in an ever-changing environment. Being able to access this training locally, bespoke to our needs, has provided us with the opportunity to train a significant number of people across all our business divisions in order to provide them with opportunities to further develop their careers. I congratulate participants who have achieved personal recognition through ILM level 2 accreditation, developing skills which contribute to the long term success of our business.”

James Currie, Head of School for Business, Hospitality and Tourism at SERC explains: “I commend the investment in the leadership skills of BNP Paribas Personal Finance which clearly demonstrates a keenness to further develop the success of the company. We understand how hard it is for businesses to upskill employees. That's why we make it as easy as possible for participants by working with them to minimise the impact of releasing staff. It's a real partnership."

The units in this qualification cover a wide range of skills, knowledge and understanding. These include units that focus on communication, working with people, providing direction and leadership, and getting results – from problem-solving to planning and monitoring workloads.

BNP Paribas Personal Finance has a strong commitment to both investing in the development of its people, and to the community in which it operates.  The partnership with SERC is yet another illustration of how both of these aspects can come together, providing colleagues with the opportunity to build on their many talents and complement their existing qualifications.
