BNP PARIBAS PERSONAL FINANCE PROMOTES MOBILITY

Career progression and upward mobility often come out top when employees are surveyed on the what they find most important to them at work. With this in mind, two BNP Paribas Personal Finance colleagues have been sharing the opportunities for development that have arisen during their time at the company.
According to a 2016 report by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, 33% of employees say they’re unlikely to fulfil their career aspirations while working for their current organisation. This, in turn, feeds into the trend of workers changing jobs with increasing frequency, with 30% of the UK workforce changing jobs every year.
Here at BNP Paribas Personal Finance, we aim to provide career progression and mobility internally to all of our staff, to allow them to grow and develop without feeling that they have to start afresh somewhere else.
This has served Louise Connelly, Head of Customer Insight, well during her ten-year career with us.
Louise joined us in the analytics area of the business, before fast-tracking her career thanks to an appetite for learning and a desire to throw herself out of her comfort zone.
“Throughout my own career here, I have always taken ownership of my development, striving to achieve and be the best I possibly can be,” Louise explained. “I have had a lot of support from our Learning and Development team, making the most of our internal courses and being nominated for our Early Managers Training, Peak Performance & Leadership Development Programme.”
Her career highlight to date came when she became a part of the BNP Paribas Personal Finance Key People Programme.
“The first time I was involved was in December 2016 when I was asked to attend the Personal Finance Annual Conference and give a closing presentation,” she said. “Along with eight other people from the Key People Emerging Talent Group, I was asked to attend the conference, listen to the Personal Finance Forward plan, and do a 15-minute group presentation at the end of the three days to 400 audience members.
“There are fantastic opportunities open to everyone here who takes control of their own development and really works to drive their career forwards. It’s one of the things that makes BNP Paribas Personal Finance such a great place to work.”
At the earlier stages of her career meanwhile, apprentice Taylor Mullins is discovering that having opportunities to learn across multiple departments can bring tangible benefits for her fledgling career.
Taylor joined BNP Paribas Personal Finance in the customer service contact centre and has recently been appointed as Lead Agent.
“I receive endless support from anyone who I’ve spoken to about progression within BNP Paribas Personal Finance,” she enthused. “I feel like everyone I speak to wants to help me develop my career and gives me different work to do that may challenge me. With new work and new opportunities, I’m pushed further out of my comfort zone.
“I am very much looking forward to what my future holds here with BNP Paribas Personal Finance, and will most definitely continue to further my education with the company to extend my knowledge and qualifications to keep progressing within the business.”
