REASONS TO LOVE WORKING AT BNP PARIBAS PERSONAL FINANCE UK

We're committed to investing in our people at BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK. In January, we were exceptionally proud to be recognised as one of the top employers in the country and Europe by the Top Employers Institute for the third year running.

Reflecting on our achievement, and in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we asked our colleagues why they love working here.

Diverse and inclusive workforce

Lesley Chandler, Head of Procurement and Contract Management, explained: “One of the many reasons I love working here is because we’re a company that embraces diversity across all areas of the business. For instance, we are a Disability Confident Level 2 Employer and I am proud to be involved in our Disability Committee establishing a positive working climate and building strong rapport between colleagues.”

What’s more, in 2022, we strengthened our commitment to diversity and inclusion by developing our networks, including our Early Careers Network, to help young people starting off in their careers to have a voice and access relevant and impactful learning and development opportunities.

Chief People Office, Susan Farmer, added: “Creating an inclusive and welcoming workplace, where people can be themselves, is a really important part of our culture — and our newest committee , supporting Menopause, complements our existing Diversity & Inclusion networks. These include Pride, Women in Business, Multicultural Empowerment, Wellbeing, Disability and Helping Hands. I’m really proud of the great work our people and networks do to make a positive impact — and it’s no surprise that our strong focus on diversity and inclusion was praised by the Top Employers Institute.”

Our people

People are central to BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK, and it is thanks to our incredible colleagues — past and present — that we’ve been able to overcome hurdles, navigate credit crises, drive innovation and be a force for positive change the past 50 years.

Tanya Gamble, Operations Training and Academy Manager, commented: “The teams at Solihull and Belfast make BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK what it is — a fun, dynamic and vibrant place to work. Everyone works well together and champions individual skills, helping us become stronger as a business. The people are what I love about working here.”

Commenting on the importance of people, Sue Farmer stated: “Recognising and rewarding our people is very important at BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK, which is why we host an annual Be the Difference Awards to ensure our colleagues feel valued. The awards have become a highly anticipated event in the company’s social calendar as it gives us the opportunity to shine a spotlight on individuals and teams who have gone above and beyond for our partners, customers and colleagues, making the company a great place to work.”

Opportunity to achieve ambitions

Whether it’s within our UK business or as part of the wider global bank (BNP Paribas Group), we help our colleagues realise their ambitions with dedicated career progression support.

Speaking to Rikesh Mistry (Learning and Development Training Business Partner) and Shane Sterling (Head of Customer Insight) on why they love working here, they unanimously revealed: “It is because of the various opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.”

Since joining BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK, Rikesh has worked across three different areas of the business: Customer Service, Collections, and now HR. Each role has provided Rikesh with an opportunity to learn new skills and tailor his job to what interests him, which now includes learning and development.

In addition, Shane has developed through the organisation to Head of Customer Insight having joined as an undergraduate 11 years ago. This role allows Shane to provide commercial value by monitoring analytics to understand, test and predict customer behaviours.

Susan Farmer, Chief People Officer at BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK, added: “Making BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK a great place to work is at the heart of everything we do, and we’ve loved hearing the various reasons why colleagues enjoy working here.

“From embracing diversity across all areas of the business to providing colleagues with supportive work environments to learn and grow, we’re proud of our commitment to our teams and we’re looking forward to strengthening this in our 50th year by continuing to improve the colleague experience in all we do.”
